Terms of Service

1. Who we are

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of ReleaseBell, operated by Zeroject (trading as ReleaseBell), Herstedvang 8, 2620 Albertslund, Denmark, Denmark (“we”, “us”, “ReleaseBell”). By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these Terms.

2. The service

ReleaseBell is a changelog hosting platform. We provide tools for you (“product owner”) to:

• Publish changelog entries for your products
• Collect email subscriber sign-ups via a public changelog page
• Send email notifications to your subscribers when you publish new entries
• Embed a changelog widget on your own website

3. Account registration

You must provide accurate information when creating an account. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must be at least 16 years old to use ReleaseBell.

4. Subscription plans and billing

ReleaseBell offers the following plans:

Paid subscriptions are billed monthly in advance. You can cancel at any time from your account settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. No refunds are provided for partial months, except where required by applicable consumer protection law (including the EU Consumer Rights Directive — see Section 14).

If your subscriber count exceeds your plan's limit, new subscriptions will be blocked and email notifications will only be sent to subscribers up to your plan's cap. Upgrade to a higher plan to remove this restriction.

We reserve the right to change pricing with at least 30 days' advance notice to account holders via email.

5. Acceptable use policy

You agree not to use ReleaseBell to:

• Send unsolicited commercial email (spam) — all subscribers must have explicitly opted in
• Collect subscriber emails for purposes other than changelog notifications for the product they signed up for
• Impersonate another person, company, or product
• Distribute malware, phishing links, or harmful content via changelog entries or emails
• Violate any applicable law or regulation, including data protection laws (GDPR, CAN-SPAM, CASL)
• Scrape, reverse-engineer, or abuse the ReleaseBell platform or API
• Use the service for any unlawful, fraudulent, or harmful purpose
• Exceed your plan's subscriber limits by technical circumvention

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate this policy, with or without notice depending on the severity of the violation.

6. Your content

You retain ownership of all changelog entries and product content you create (“Your Content”). By publishing content on ReleaseBell, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, display, and transmit Your Content as necessary to provide the service (e.g. serving your public changelog page, sending notification emails).

You are solely responsible for Your Content. We do not review or pre-moderate content but may remove content that violates these Terms.

7. Subscriber data and your responsibilities as a data controller

When you collect subscriber email addresses through ReleaseBell, you are the data controllerand ReleaseBell acts as your data processor under GDPR Art. 28.

As a data controller, you are responsible for ensuring:

• You have a valid legal basis to collect subscriber email addresses (consent via double opt-in is provided by our platform)
• Your public changelog page accurately describes what subscribers are signing up for
• You do not use subscriber email addresses for purposes beyond changelog notifications
• You respond to subscriber data subject requests (access, deletion, portability) in a timely manner

Our Data Processing Agreement (DPA) is incorporated by reference and forms part of these Terms. By using ReleaseBell to process subscriber data, you agree to the DPA.

8. Subscriber data on account deletion

If you delete your account or a product, all associated subscriber records are permanently and irrecoverably deleted from our systems within 30 days. We do not provide a data export of subscriber email addresses as a standard feature on the Free plan; paid plans include subscriber export functionality. You are responsible for exporting any data you need before deletion.

9. Availability and service levels

ReleaseBell is provided on a commercially reasonable efforts basis. We do not guarantee specific uptime percentages outside of Scale plan SLA agreements. We may perform maintenance that temporarily affects availability and will provide advance notice where possible.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, ReleaseBell is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

In no event shall Zeroject (trading as ReleaseBell) be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, or business opportunities, arising out of or in connection with your use of ReleaseBell, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

Our total aggregate liability to you for any claims arising under or in connection with these Terms shall not exceed the greater of (a) the total fees paid by you to ReleaseBell in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) €50.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for fraud, gross negligence, wilful misconduct, death or personal injury, or any other liability that cannot be limited by law.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Zeroject (trading as ReleaseBell) from any claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your use of ReleaseBell, Your Content, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any applicable law or third-party rights.

12. Termination

Either party may terminate the service relationship at any time. You may delete your account from your account settings. We may terminate or suspend your account for violations of these Terms, with immediate effect for serious violations (spam, illegal activity) or with 14 days' notice otherwise.

On termination, your right to use the service ceases. Sections 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, 13, and 14 survive termination.

13. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of Denmark, without regard to conflict of law provisions. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Copenhagen, Denmark, except where mandatory consumer protection laws in your country of residence require otherwise.

If you are a consumer in the EU, you may also have the right to use the EU Online Dispute Resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.

14. EU consumer rights

If you are a consumer (an individual using ReleaseBell for non-business purposes) in the EU, you may have a 14-day right of withdrawal from the date of purchase, unless you have consented to immediate provision of the service (which you do by clicking “Start free trial” or similar). In practice, the Free plan has no purchase to withdraw from. For paid plans, contact us at support@releasebell.io to exercise this right within 14 days of payment.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you by email at least 30 days before material changes take effect. Continued use of ReleaseBell after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
